Cover crops & soil types event recap

Jim Meade hosted a Cover Crop Demonstration Field Day at his farm near Tiffin, IA on September 10th.

Jim shared with us his experience with cover crops and provided a map of soil types found on his property. Other farmers provided their insights on the benefits, challenges, costs and practices associated with the use of cover crops. Attendees were also able to hear from staff of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District about which cover crops to plant for specific nutrient deficiencies and what type of funding is available to assist in the implementation of these practices. Thanks to the Johnson County Cattleman's Association for the free meal!
