As the days become warmer, the shocks of color we've been waiting for all winter are starting to appear. That means the days of planting our gardens are in the very near future. If you are considering strawberries for your home garden, early spring (April) is the best time for planting in Iowa.
The recent Iowa State University Extension and Outreach article titled, "Spring Care of Strawberry Plants," offers further information about how you can best prepare for a June harvest. This article includes the best times to remove mulch, fertilize, and plant strawberries.
