Raised Bed Gardening Workshop, May 11
Does a bad back keep you from gardening as much as you would like? Are you itching to start gardening now, before the ground is completely thawed from winter? Do you struggle with pests like slugs and snails eating your garden plants? Raised bed gardening may be your solution. This is fast becoming the most popular form of gardening because of its versatility and ease. Join local Master Gardener Phil Pfister at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha) to learn about raised bed gardening on Saturday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This hands-on class will include classroom time and practice preparing a raised bed in the Prairiewoods garden. Topics covered will include best crop choices and proper soil amending. The cost is $15. Please register by May 8 by contacting Prairiewoods at 319-395-6700 or www.Prairiewoods.org.
